Counties
Presidential results for 3,112 of the 3,230 counties and county-equivalents listed here, with each county's movement measured against the national environment rather than in isolation. All but one carry the full seven cycles, 2000 through 2024.
What is not here
118 of the units above carry no presidential figures at all. They are listed anyway, because a county-equivalent that quietly vanishes from an index is harder to notice than one that says why it is empty.
- 78 Puerto Rico municipios — Puerto Rico does not vote in the presidential general election, and our source carries no returns for its municipios.
- 30 Alaska boroughs, municipalities and census areas — Deliberate. Alaska certifies presidential results by State House district, not by borough, so the state is published at that grain instead — all 40 districts, across the 6 cycles whose source totals reconcile. See the district series →
- 9 Connecticut planning regions — The regions replaced Connecticut's counties in 2022 on different lines. We publish the eight retired counties and no crosswalk, because a correct one does not exist. Why there is no crosswalk →
- 1 Kalawao County — Our source publishes returns for four of Hawaii's five county units, and this is the one it leaves out.
Short series: Broomfield County has 6 cycles rather than seven, beginning in 2004. Broomfield County created from parts of Adams, Boulder, Jefferson and Weld counties.
